Heather Niedzwiecki has been a teacher at Bay Shore High School since September of 2003. She has taught several courses for the High School, including Global 9, Global 9 CWC, 9th Grade Honors Global Studies, 9th Grade Humanities, AP World History and International Relations.

She is the advisor for the award winning Model United Nations Club and serves as the Business Manager for the Drama Club at the high school. She graduated from Smithtown High School in 1999 and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in History from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2003. She received her Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Stony Brook University in the Spring of 2007.

In the Spring of 2012, she was honored with the Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award from the Long Island Council for Social Studies. She lives in Bay Shore with her husband, two sons, and daughter; they love to attend as many community events as they can. She is a Yankee fan, and though it brings her much ridicule, she is also a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

To Heather, Model UN is not merely an extracurricular activity, but rather an eye-opening educational experience that helps shape young minds into educated global citizens.

Mrs. Niedzwiecki hopes that BSMUNC 2015 leaves a lasting impression in the delegates that attend, and that the knowledge they gain from debate transcends the competitive nature of Model UN.  The goal of this club is not to "win an award," but rather to raise awareness about the problems going on in the world and thus inspire tomorrow's leaders to change our current situation.
